On Saturday, May 31, downtown Burlington got a fresh wake-up call in the best possible way. The AM Club, a new kind of morning coffee party, made its debut at The Port House—and yes, it was a sold-out event.
Instead of your usual sleepy Saturday, locals were treated to free coffee and pastries, cocktails, and a full-on dancefloor powered by DJs Evan Smith, Vaughn Lucyk, and Josh Robertson. Think daytime energy, downtown atmosphere, and an espresso-fueled social scene that felt way more Toronto than sleepy suburb.
The AM Club is the brainchild of Ryann Wiseman (founder of Inquiry Social) and Prince Sharma (owner of Williams Fresh Cafe on Brant Street). Their goal? Bring people together in a way that’s fresh, safe, and doesn’t require crossing the QEW.
“We wanted to do something new to get people out and socializing,” said Wiseman. “You can enjoy the party, have coffee, and go home safely on time.”
And it worked. Burlington showed up and showed out, proving there’s real demand for homegrown social events that mix community, music, and caffeine—without the need for a midnight Uber.
The team is taking feedback seriously and plans to expand the concept to include family-friendly editions, with an emphasis on healthy food, good drinks, and inclusive vibes for all ages.
“This is something people wanted,” said Sharma. “We want to give Burlington something to be excited about.”
Wiseman and Sharma say this was just the beginning of what they hope becomes a long-term community event series right here in Burlington. And Round 2 has been confirmed for July 5th.
Whether you're a music lover, brunch enthusiast, or just looking for a better way to spend your morning—The AM Club might be your new favourite reason to wake up early.
