Why We Built Nineside — And Where We’re Going Together

Nineside’s mission is to connect communities, celebrate local culture, and amplify the stories, businesses, and people that make the GTA and surrounding regions worth exploring.

At a time when cities grow faster than connections do, when local gems get lost in the noise, and when the algorithm decides what’s “worth discovering,” we felt there was something missing.

So we built Nineside — a platform rooted in real people, real places, and the stories that shape them.

Our mission is simple but powerful:

Nineside’s mission is to connect communities, celebrate local culture, and amplify the stories, businesses, and people that make the GTA and surrounding regions worth exploring.

What That Means in Real Life

It means giving a voice to the family-owned café in Etobicoke that’s been doing things right for 20 years — but never had a chance to shine online. It means spotlighting the up-and-coming artist in Hamilton, the community garden in St. Catharines, the trail in Caledon you didn’t know existed, and the vintage shop in Burlington that feels like a time machine in the best way.

It means building tools — like Page Nine and Neighbors — to make connection easy, discovery organic, and support for small businesses actually visible.

Because we believe that local doesn’t mean limited.
It means layered, vibrant, and full of story.

Built for Locals, by Locals

We’re not here to talk at the community — we’re here to be part of it. That’s why everything we create, from blog posts to city guides to digital tools, is built with locals in mind.

  • If you're a small business owner, Nineside gives you a place to be seen and supported.

  • If you're a city explorer, you’ll find your next favorite patio, trail, or market.

  • If you're just someone who loves where they’re from and wants to share that pride — you’re in the right place.

What Comes Next

We’re just getting started. Our goal is to grow organically and intentionally, spotlighting more communities across the GTA, the Golden Horseshoe, and beyond — while keeping our roots in connection, culture, and local love.

We’ll keep sharing the stories that deserve a louder mic. We’ll keep making it easier to discover the people, places, and businesses worth supporting. And we’ll keep building tools that help real communities thrive — online and in real life.

This is what Nineside is about.
Connecting communities. Celebrating local culture. Amplifying what matters.

And if that speaks to you — you’re already part of it.
Let’s grow something local, together.
