Hudson’s Bay liquidation sales expected to begin Tuesday in Hamilton and Burlington
Hudson’s Bay Company locations in Lime Ridge Mall and Burlington’s Mapleview Centre are two of the stores set to close.

Shoppers rushed to the Hudson’s Bay location at Lime Ridge Mall in hopes of catching the first day of liquidation sales on Monday.
But an employee confirmed those sales would officially start on Tuesday, as a liquidator perused the store and helped decide what prices would look like.
The Hudson’s Bay Company spent last week in court with landlords, suppliers and other businesses before being granted permission to liquidate all but six of its stores to pay off its roughly $1.1-billion debt.
Hamilton’s Lime Ridge Mall and Burlington’s Mapleview Centre locations are set to close, but it’s not clear when.
While there were no liquidation sales, the continued “end-of-season” sales in both stores gave customers 30 to 60 per cent off items like couches, kitchenware and women’s, men’s and children’s apparel.
Three days after Friday’s court decision, shelves and racks were increasingly empty at Lime Ridge Mall.
Around 60 people stood at the main-floor entrance waiting for the store’s 11 a.m. opening, avoiding the morning’s chilly 4 C weather.
A sign at the entrance said the store’s end-of-season sale would mean up to 70 per cent off, but a majority of the red sale signs in the store were from 30 to 50 per cent off.
Later in the afternoon, customers at Mapleview Centre roamed the store looking for sales, some saying they will come back the next day to check for liquidation sales.
There were fewer empty sections at the Burlington store compared to its Hamilton counterpart, with full racks and shelves.
